Semblex- Problem Solver

OEM Fastening systems offers manySemblex products which are Fastening Solutions to many of the common assembly issues that exists.  Are you dealing with one of the issues below:

Cam-Out
Driver bit spins out of recess

Cam-Out can occur when the driver bit disengages or slips from the mating recess.  Depending on your specific assembly requirements Semblex offers different solutions.  If off-angle driving is required, the ACR® Phillips II® drive system allows for the operator to engage the recess at angles up to 12°.  If high torque is required, the Torx Plus® drive system allows for maximum driver bit contact within the walls of the recess for solid engagement and low possibility of cam-out.

Clearance Issues
   Need reduced head height

In instances where clearance issues exist in the application the head height of the fastener can be reduced while still providing the necessary drive tool engagement allowing for proper assembly without damage to the drive feature.  Mortorq® Super provides lower head heights through an internal drive system or Torx Plus® Low Profile Head featuring an external drive system.  As an added benefit these low profile head designs can also help reduce part weight.

Cross Threading
   Fastener and mating thread bind

Cross Threading can occur whenever the fastener enters the mating thread from an off-angle position creating misalignment of the internal and external threads.  The MAThread® feature allows for assembly up to 15° off-angle by the driver tools without the fastener cross threading.  As an additional benefit MAThread® can also aid when threads are exposed to paint build-up.  MAThread® can be the solution to many of your assembly problems.

Excessive Bit Wear
   Low driver bit life

Off-Angle Driving
Bit engaged in recess at angle

Off-Angle Driving occurs when the assembly operator engages the recess of the fastener with the drive tool from a non-vertical position and attempts to drive the fastener. If off-angle driving is required, the ACR® Phillips II® drive system allows for the operator to engage the recess at angles up to 12° with less end-load reducing potential operator injury and also damage to the underlying surface of the assembly.

Part/Bit Retention
   Stick fit required

Stick Fit may be a requirement when the operator needs the fastener to remain affixed to the driver bit during assembly from various positions or with non-magnetic fastener materials.

Recess Fill
Plating build up in internal recesses

Recess Fill can occur when excessive finish coating builds up in the internal recess preventing the driver bit from entering. The Torx Plus® Low Profile Head can provide one option as this external configuration allows for full drive tool engagement with heavy coatings. The unique open recess concept of the Mortorq® Super drive system allows for less retention of the coating in the recess during processing and provides for easier driver bit insertion into the recess with heavy coatings applied.

*Finishes and organic coatings must be proven in engineering trials with this recess.
